There’s More to the Story


What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a library? Some people picture a big building full of books, magazines, maybe a few CDs and DVDs. Others recall visiting a library to get help with job hunting, researching a term paper or perusing college catalogs and travel guides.

We’re back for year three! Sonoma County Library and the Santa Rosa Zine Collective have collaborated to bring you the third annual Santa Rosa Zine Fest (#SRZF2023).

Join us for a weeklong celebration of zines and local talent from April 11 to April 15.

Sonoma County Library Appoints New Director


Erika Thibault is the new director for the Sonoma County Library, which spans 12 regional libraries, two community libraries, a mobile library, and multiple special collections. The Sonoma County Library Commission voted to appoint Thibault at its February 1 meeting after a nationwide executive search.

Ice Cream

A quick trip to Petaluma Market changed everything. I was there for only one item: Clover Sweet Cream Vanilla Ice Cream. A walk amongst the many ice cream options however, brought up only one Clover flavor; and it was not vanilla. Upon inquiring, market management shook their heads and remarked that there was going to be no more Clover ice cream. I was aghast. I was horrified; but mostly I was sad.

May 2022 Virtual Teen Pride Club: Queer Books by AAPI Authors


Our Virtual Pride Club for Teens ages 13-18 continues this month with the theme of queer books by AAPI authors! May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month where we honor and celebrate the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. We will be meeting online at 5:00 pm every Tuesday in May. New participants are always welcome!

Share Your Story For A Special Collection

Immigrants in Sonoma County are invited to submit a written story or tell us verbally about their Immigrant Experience. We are seeking stories from immigrants who have come from EVERYWHERE, and at this time we can translate stories submitted in English or Spanish. The deadline for all story submissions is: September 30, 2022.
