There are Many Ways to Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Sonoma County Library.
Adults
Adult Literacy and English Language Partners
Volunteer as a tutor/learning partner with the library’s Adult Literacy & English Language Partners program. Help an adult improve their basic reading, writing, and English language skills at your local library 2-3 hours per week. Learn more and find out about the next free New Tutor Orientation and Training sessions.
Library Friends
Library Friends groups need volunteers to help with book sales and other fundraising and committee activities. Find your nearest Friends group here.
Teens
Sonoma County Library is proud to host over 2,000 teens as volunteers every year at our 12 regional libraries. Opportunities vary at different locations and are generally 1-2 hours per week. To find teen volunteering opportunities, visit the Locations page.
Teen Advisory Group
Rohnert Park Cotati Library's Teen Advisory Group (TAG) is a volunteer-driven leadership group for students in grades 7-12 who are passionate about making a difference at the library and in their community. As a TAG member, you’ll work closely with the Teen Librarian to help shape teen services, whether it's brainstorming and leading exciting programs, curating book displays and recommendations, managing social media content, or bringing fresh ideas to the table. It's a great way to build leadership skills, earn volunteer hours, and make your voice heard! Interested? Please email Teen Librarian Allison.
Library Advisory Boards
Are you interested in being a connection between the library and the community? Apply to be on your local Library Advisory Board. With a minimal time commitment, you can make an impact!
Applications are reviewed by the Branch Manager along with the Library Commissioner for that region, and appointments are made by the Library Commission.
