Biography Resource Center

The Biography Resource Center is a comprehensive database of biographical information on more than 185,000 people from throughout history, around the world, and across all disciplines and subject areas. It contains approximately 250,000 biographies, and full-text articles from nearly 250 magazines and journals.

Use the basic search to find a person whose name you already know. Use the Biographical Facts search to find names of people based on one or more personal facts such as birth and death years and places, nationality, ethnicity, occupation or gender.

Magazine Articles - General OneFile (formerly InfoTrac)

Contains academic journal articles, magazine articles, and reference texts on a wide range of topics: business, computers, current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, sports, technology, and many general interest topics.

Most files cover 1980 to the present. Publishers of some popular titles such as Consumer Reports require a delay up to 90 days after print publication before the text of an article appears online.

Literature Resource Center

Includes biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of more than 120,000 authors from every age and literary discipline (including poets, novelists, playwrights, songwriters, and screenwriters). Contains information from over 250 magazines and journals, plus sources such as the Encyclopedia of Literature, Contemporary Authors Online, Contemporary Literary Criticism Select, featuring entries on all authors appearing in CLC since vol. 95 of the print series, Dictionary of Literary Biography Online, Scribners Writers Series, and Twayne's English Authors, US Authors, and World Authors.

Many reviews and essays in Literature Resource Center include excerpts from authors' works.
