Literacy Program logoAdult Literacy Program - Workshops for Volunteer Tutors

Do you want to teach adults to read?
The Literacy Program needs you!

All of our tutors are volunteers. To become a tutor you must attend an orientation and a training workshop.

The orientation is held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Central Library in Santa Rosa from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.

The training workshop is held each month on the Saturday following the orientation.

For more information, call our office at (707) 544-2622.

The training and books are free.

Both student and tutor will work together for a minimum of six months for 2-4 hours per week.

What qualifications do I need to become a tutor?

  • Tutors must be at least 18 years old, speak English and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Previous tutoring experience is not required.  We provide training and ongoing support.

Check the Library Calendar of Events or call the Literacy Program at (707) 544-2622 for dates and locations of upcoming workshops.
