Borrowing
Library Materials
The Ins and Outs of Borrowing
You must have a library card to borrow library materials or use our
special online resources.
There is no charge for the card or for borrowing library materials.
Cards expire and must be renewed every two years. To renew your card, visit the check-out desk
at your local library and bring current identification.
If you owe any library fines or fees, you must pay them in order to renew your card.
You may check out up to 30 items at one time, and 10 of
those items can be DVDs.
You may return items to any Sonoma County Library branch.
Effective February 14, 2011, Sonoma County Library DVDs with one or two discs check out for 7 days.
All other Sonoma County Library circulating library materials, including DVD sets with three or more discs, may be checked out for 21 days.
These limits apply to items owned by Sonoma County Library.
Some materials that we check out to you may have been sent from a different library system,
and may have a different due date.
You may reserve materials both online and in person.
A total of 20 items (not more than 10 DVDs) can be placed on hold. We let you know when they
are available.
