Mr. McFarland-Johnson plays the guitello, a new hybrid instrument that combines the acoustic guitar, violoncello and lute. At the program, he will perform the J.S. Bach Cello Suites # 1 – 3 on the guitello. Jeffrey McFarland-Johnson has gained a growing reputation for his performances in the Napa Valley since his arrival in 1988. He holds a Master’s Degree in Composition from UC San Diego and he has studied and he performed throughout Europe and the United States. He has played weddings, corporate events, and private gatherings as soloist, with harp, violin/flute trio and string quartets. He also performs on electric cello, acoustic and electric bass, guitar, and the bodhran. Mr. McFarland-Johnson enjoys composing and arranging music for singers, children, rock and jazz groups.
